Grade 5/6 Basketball Intramurals.

Grade 5 and 6 students are in invited to play basketball intramurals beginning Tuesday November 8th. All forms must be returned to Mr. Sadowsky by Tuesday November 1st. No late forms will be accepted. Please see the attached letter.

Grade 5/6 Basketball Intramurals: Beddington Heights
Mr. Sadowsky will be offering basketball intramurals for all grade 5/6 students from 11:30-11:55 on the following Tuesdays and Thursdays:

Tues/Thur Nov 8/10                Tues/Thur Nov29 Dec 1
Tues/Thur Nov 15/17              Tues/Thur Dec 6/8
Tues/Thur Nov 22/24              Tues/Thur Dec 13/15

We will run our basketball intramurals as a house league complete with playoffs. Students will be placed on a team and remain on that team for the entire 6 weeks playing through a schedule and competing against other teams. Depending on the number of participants, they will get 1 or 2 games on each of their play dates with playoffs being the final week. They will only play 1 day a week. Either the Tuesday or the Thursday due to the large numbers and access to only half the gym. A schedule will be posted for students to check play dates. We look to build teamwork, fair play, sportsmanship and etiquette while having fun and learning the basics of basketball and getting exercise.

If you would like your child to participate in intramurals, please sign this form and return to school by Tuesday November 1st  as I need time to create fair teams and post the schedule so students know when they play. Late forms WILL NOT be accepted. If your child is signed up for intramurals, it is the expectation they attend all sessions unless we receive written notification from a parent or guardian. 2 unexcused absences will result in removal from the program.

Terry Fox Run

This Friday, September 16th we will be heading outside as a school for our annual Terry Fox run. We will have an assembly in the morning and then take all students outside at 10:00 for the run.

We are setting a goal of $1,000.00 as a school. The fundraiser is called toonies for Terry but we ask for any donation. Everything helps. If we reach our goal teachers have agreed to dye our hair (and beards for those who apply) pink for the day.
Donations can be brought to the homeroom teachers all week leading up to our even on Friday.
We greatly appreciate your support.

We will be working on building up our cardiovascular endurance all week in phys ed to help prepare us for the run on Friday.

Have a great week.

Welcome Back

Welcome back to another exciting year at Beddington Heights. I will be using this blog to post updates about activities and upcoming special events in phys ed this year.

This week we will be getting familiar with the expectations and routines in the gym.

Students are expected to have appropriate indoor shoes for phys ed for safety and to keep our gym clean.

This friday will be our 1st Fitness Friday where we will perform fitness activities and play fitness oriented games to wrap up each week.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you
